Huge Lot
Does Hawaii have a lot of huge creepy-crawlies?
I'm planning an internship in Hawaii this upcoming summer, but I am absolutely horrified of anything with eight legs and over an inch big. Combine the two and it's full-out panic. I know it's immature and shouldn't be a deciding factor, but are there a lot of these little beasts running around on the islands? (Also, if you're like me...how do you cope with it, lol?) Thanks for the help.
No denying it, we do have roaches. Even if you keep a clean house, you will have the occasional roach. There are little ones, & yes, big ones that fly. You won't see tons of them, but you will see them. There are centipedes & spiders, but they tend to be more outdoorsy bugs. I don't see them inside too often. Ants? They give me more trouble than the roaches, personally. During hot, humid weather, we have termites that swarm around the lights. And then there are the geckos. You didn't mention a lizard phobia, but many people don't like them either. I think they are cute & as a bonus, they eat roaches.
As the other poster advised, keep yourself armed with a rubber slipper.
