Can I drill a drain hole in my torque converter?
I'm got an 03' F-150. They stopped putting the drain holes in the torque converters in 01'. I need to change out the tranny fluid but don't want to have to take apart lines or take it to the dealership to use a machine. If I only drop the pan, I'll only be able to change 5 of the 14 quarts it holds. Is it possible to drill a drain hole in the torque converter or will it only throw off balance?
no once you do that you,ll throw it out of balance and then you,ll get a constant vibration from it,there's no way to drain the converter on it other than to crank it over and pump out whats in it and that takes a while to get it all out,you may have to just change it twice once it all mixes together to get it fully clean, good luck.
