Scalloped Squares
How do I paint an even scalloped border?
I'm trying to paint a scalloped border but of course, the room isn't a perfect square. I'm making a stencil of the scallop but I want them all to be the same size around the room. What size do I make the scallop if the walls are-- 132", 122.5", 44.5", 44.25", 34", and 26". There are 4 walls obviously but I didn't include the doors or window in the measurements, that's why there are 6 numbers.
I want the scallops to be about 6-9 inches long but I can't make them all the same size with different wall lengths.. i'm trying to find a number that will make it even all the way around... http://www.potterybarnkids.com/room/rom/romnur/romnurbrk/index.cfm there is a picture of the look i'm going for.
This sounds like some tricky math. I'm sorry I don't have the answer, but I bet you could get the answer from the decorative art/faux painting people at wetcanvas.com. They have forums there for all types of art and the decorative artists are really fantastic and helpful. This is the forum:
